BASF's Tinuvin light stabilizers protect plastic components from mechanical property loss and surface discoloration under diverse climatic conditions. Tinuvin comprises a range of ultraviolet absorbers (UVA) and hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS) for plastics. These agents enable plastic components to maintain their appearance and performance. Consequently, Tinuvin light stabilizers extend the lifespan of UV-sensitive plastic applications.

Tinuvin 494 AR is a synthetic hydroxyphenyl triazine (HPT) UV absorber. It delivers outstanding performance in coatings, including an extremely high extinction coefficient, excellent light-life properties, high thermal stability, superior performance under high-temperature cycling, minimal volatility under harsh environmental conditions, excellent film application properties, and ideal spectral coverage when combined with other UV absorbers.
Tinuvin 494 AR is engineered to meet the demands for high performance and durability in automotive and industrial coatings. Its high extinction coefficient allows for reduced UV absorber levels in coating formulations. It is suitable for horizontal and/or thin-film applications. Particularly when combined with other HPT UV absorbers and photoinitiators, it is an excellent choice for the latest generation of UV-curable coatings.
Tinuvin 494 AR has been developed as a non-interacting UV absorber suitable for use in amine and/or metal-catalyzed coating systems or primers containing catalysts.
