Moisture Content: 4%
Bulk Density: 8 lb/cu in (130 kg/m³)
Specific Gravity: 1.5–1.7
III. Product Applications:
GARAMITE 1958's unique rheological properties ensure excellent sag resistance and anti-settling performance in both high- and low-viscosity systems. This distinctive rheology makes it highly suitable for high-solids paints. It is also ideal for metallic flake paints, aiding in metal orientation and partially replacing CAB.
IV. Product Characteristics:
Thixotropy and Anti-Sagging:
GARAMITE 1958's unique rheological properties ensure excellent anti-sagging and anti-settling performance in both high- and low-viscosity systems. This distinctive rheology makes GARAMITE 1958 highly suitable for high-solids paints. It is also ideal for metallic flake paints, aiding in metal orientation and partially replacing CAB.
Solvent Usage and Addition Method:
Solvents such as xylene, styrene, and toluene are commonly used in paint formulations. For maximum effectiveness, we strongly recommend adding GARAMITE 1958 to the solvent first, although it can be added directly to the resin or to a resin-solvent mixture.
When adding GARAMITE 1958 directly to resin, high-shear mixing (~4000 rpm) is required for optimal dispersion. The typical dosage is comparable to that of fumed silica and polyamide wax, ranging from 0.2% to 0.6%.
V. Storage Stability:
If stored in a dry place with unopened packaging at temperatures between 0°C and 30°C, the shelf life is 12 months.
VI. Product Packaging:
10 kg per bag
