Modified rosin also plays a vital role in the coatings sector. Its excellent abrasion resistance, water resistance, and corrosion resistance make it a primary component in various coatings. IV. Product Applications:
1. Paints: Production of various modified rosin resins. After paint formulation, it enhances film toughness, hardness, gloss, and water resistance.
2. Inks: Production of various phenolic modified rosin resins, widely used in ink manufacturing to improve ink flow rate and transfer performance. Water-based resins for water-based inks can be produced through partial saponification of rosin's anhydride addition.
3. Papermaking: Used for sizing in papermaking;
4. Rubber: Serves as a plasticizer in the rubber industry, enhancing elasticity, viscosity, and gloss;
5. Soap: Boiled with soda ash or caustic soda to form rosin soap. Exhibits strong detergency, viscosity, water solubility, and foaming properties;
