Lightweight magnesium oxide is a white, lightweight, loose, amorphous powder. Odorless and tasteless, its volume is approximately three times that of heavy magnesium oxide. It readily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide when exposed to air. Insoluble in water and alcohol, it dissolves in dilute acids to form corresponding magnesium salt solutions. Specific gravity: 3.58 (at 25°C). Melting point: 285°C. Boiling point: 360°C. Slightly soluble in pure water and organic solvents; soluble in acid or

Application
Chlorinated polyethylene, neoprene, butyl rubber, fluororubber, silicone rubber, adhesives, and PVC compounding agents. Active magnesium oxide serves as a key raw material for producing high-performance fine inorganic materials, electronic components, inks, and harmful gas adsorbents. It holds promise for development into materials suitable for harsh conditions such as high temperatures and severe corrosion. Applications include use as a filler in cosmetics, a filler and reinforcing agent in plastics and rubber, and an auxiliary material in various electronic materials. It also functions as an important adjuvant in isothiazolinone-based antimicrobial preservatives and water treatment agents.
