Natural or synthetic resins that are soluble in alcohol solvents but insoluble in water and hydrocarbons. It is an important raw material for preparing alcoholic paint or alcoholic varnish without drying oil. The main alcohol-soluble natural resins are shellac and dammar resin, and rosin is soluble in alcohol and hydrocarbon. The main alcohol-soluble synthetic resins are rosin-modified alkyd resins, thermoplastic phenolic resins, urea-formaldehyde resins and polyvinyl butyral.

Use:
Resin: for various rosin modified resins;
Paint: Production of various modified rosin resins. After the paint is made, the toughness, hardness and brightness of the paint film can be improved, and the water resistance of the paint film can be improved;
Ink: Production of various types of phenolic modified rosin resin, widely used in ink production to improve ink speed and transfer performance. Water-based resins for water-based inks can be produced by semi-esterification after the addition of anhydrous rosin;
Papermaking: papermaking sizing;
Rubber: Improves tack and shine.
